Benny Lynch (1913 - 1946) was a world champion boxer from Glasgow who died in poverty of pneumonia brought on by malnutrition and alcoholism eight years after losing the title for failing to make weight. He spent his last tragic years abandoned by all those who had previouslybeen clamouring for his company.
