The Book Spine Centre Panel
bkdetail The title of the book is taken from a quotation from the German Romantic painter Caspar David Friedrich (1774-1840):
"The artist should not only paint what he sees before him, but also what he sees within him. If, however, he sees nothing within him, then he should also omit to paint that which he sees before him".
This corresponds to the theme of self examination running through the work. The three flowers represent the three children of the house, Darroch, Maddie, and David (in order of age!).
