Whiteinch was originally an island in the River Clyde.
Nowadays the library is somewhat stranded between the fast expressway
which runs along the southern edge of Victoria Park and the quiet
dead-end streets which buffer it from busy Dumbarton Road further
south. The interior of Whiteinch Library is quaint and an excellent
example of victorian craftsmanship. The picture depicts the incredibly
fine balance needed to keep these places working. Again, the
self-taught man features, representing the traditions of the city and
its origins on the Clyde. |
